Duchamp SS15

Words by Ifza Khushnud

Pronounced “Doo- Sh-aw”, we’ll get that right first. This venerable British brand which prides itself on creating pieces for the “modern gent” or “dandy” presented its Spring/Summer 2015 collection at LCM last week. The collection consisted of 3 themes; business wear, evening wear and Man from Del Monte”. I labelled that last one myself.

Showcased at the fine Rosewood Hotel, Duchamp opted for a more relaxed approach to unveil their collection, there was no runway or catwalk, just several well-dressed models dotted around the room. To be able to examine the pieces up close was particularly benefical compared to a 10 minute speed walking catwalk session which sometimes just leaves you in a daze of “WTF”. We took our time to look through the whole collection and there were some great looks on show, great tailoring mixed and matched together perfectly. Duchamp probably wasn’t a brand I took much of interest in before I visited the show but I’m sitting up and taking notice now and you should too! Oh and the macaroons did not sway me in any way when writing this post!
